Dhahran Ahliyya Schools is a candidate school for the Diploma Programme. The school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. What is a Diploma Programme?
The Diploma Programme (DP) oers a globally oriented education for students between the ages of 16 and 19. During a two-year period, students study six subjects in addition to the core. The program is designed to prepare students with essential academic skills for university, further education, and their chosen career. Moreover, it helps students develop values and life skills necessary for leading a meaningful and satisfying life.
Diploma Programme Course of Study:
Six subjects: 3 Standard level courses (150 recommended hours) 3 higher level courses (240 recommended hours)
Requirements for Earning the IB Diploma:
Candidates must:
- successfully complete the internal and external requirements of 3 SL courses and 3 HL courses.
- satisfy the requirements in 6 subjects’ areas and the core, including CAS.
- pass TOK and EE.
- earn at least 24 total points. (each subject is graded on a 1 – 7 scale and a maximum of three points for the core elements).
- earn no more than one.
- earn no more than two.
- earn no more than three.
- earn at least 12 points from HL courses.
- earn at least 9 points from SL courses.
