Dr. Sally Alturki has spent more than 50 years working on various projects for the development of education– 46 of those years in Saudi Arabia. She and her husband, Khalid Alturki, established in 1977 and continue to lead Dhahran Ahliyya Schools (DAS), a not-for-profit, preK-12 dual- language school with separate sections for girls and boys, now an IB World School.

In 1995, they founded The Educational Book House (Dar Alkitab Atterbawi), a project to publish current books in Arabic that can be used for pre-service and in-service professional development of educators. Most recently, they have founded Numou for Education in order to provide training and consulting for educators and schools. DAS is a founding member of TAMAM and committed to its pillars to support school-based educational development in the Arab world. They are also co-founders with Dr. Hanada Taha, of Arabi21 for enhancement of the teaching of Arabic. Previously, Dr. Sally also founded a pre-school teacher preparation center.
Dr. Alturki has served on many international advisory boards including for Human Capacity Development 2030 Realization Program, the King Abdullah Project for Development of Public Education (Tatweer), Misk Schools, KAUST Schools, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, AUB, the Royal University for Women in Bahrain, and others.
